Last year, we were awarded the contract to procure and deliver Fire Trucks to the Nigerian Petroleum Development Company. It was a journey through quality assurance, an extra mileage for execution.
Here’s what happened. So, we were mandated to carry out an audit of the factories where these trucks are produced. We had to ensure that the fire trucks matched the specifications of the client.
Besides, we were not alone. On this journey was a team of 10 people who travelled to meet the team at Ziegler for the execution of this job. The vendor took us through a series of sessions on training, conferences and even led us to visit the sites at their factories.
After review and acceptance, we worked towards procurement and delivery. Just when the trucks arrived, one was not properly dropped from the container and suffered damage. Immediately, we contacted the client to give us some time and get in touch with Mercedes to provide a warranty fix.
In a matter of days, we were done and delivered the trucks as promised. Many equipment suppliers in our league may start the blame game or even tell clients to accept the goods the way they are.
Considering the so-called, “Nigerian factor”, we often find other contractors paying their way out of quality checks. On the flip side, we are concerned with quality because we know that our works would speak for us.
In fact, we have decided to showcase more of our extra mileage works in our plans for public relations next year. We would be staging our experiences being one Nigerian company that still considers best value deliverables for project execution.
Let’s take you through a journey. Let’s deliver quality. Let’s work together to achieve more.
